With maturing intelligent manufacturing and high-end electronic information technology industrial chains, Xiangzhou District of Zhuhai has placed 32nd in a report on development of the top 100 Chinese industrial counties, county-level cities and districts released on Dec 14.
The top three spots were occupied by entrants from Guangdong Province -- Nanshan and Longgang districts in Shenzhen, and Shunde District of Foshan.
The list was composed through empirical analysis and comparative study of nationwide municipal districts based on development indexes reflecting industrial competitiveness. Information was collected from the China Manufacturing Big Data Platform.
The first-time ranking was conducted by the China Academy of Information & Communications Technology (CAICT), which had three years of previous related experience. The Operations Monitoring & Coordination Bureau of the Ministry of Industry & Information Technology guided the process.

Other top-10 development districts are Wujin of Changzhou in Jiangsu Province, Nanhai of Foshan, Jiangning of Nanjing in Jiangsu, Huangdao of Qingdao in Shandong Province, Wuxi New in Jiangsu, Bao'an of Shenzhen, and Huangpu of Guangzhou.
According to the report, the districts are distributed across 16 provinces and autonomous regions; Jiangsu, Guangdong, Shandong, and Zhejiang provinces have the largest number.
Data show that from January to November this year, Xiangzhou recorded more than 148.3 billion yuan ($22.5 billion) in value added of industrial enterprises above designated size, an increase of 15.63 percent year-on-year.
The economic achievement and the high ranking were credited by Xiangzhou's Science, Technology, Industry, Trade & Information Technology Bureau to the government's continuous supply-side structural reform. An official called the outcome an initial success as evidenced by the improved quality and efficiency of the district's industrial development.
In the meantime, with strengthened ability to nurture competitive businesses, Xiangzhou has developed six advantageous traditional industries including household appliances and smart homes, represented by Gree Electric Appliances -- one of the world's largest air conditioner manufacturers. The printing consumable industry is also advancing, driven by Zhuhai Seine Technology, a world-famous general printing consumables company.

The number of emerging industries is also on the rise thanks to priority given to high-end intelligent development. An intelligent manufacturing industrial chain from R&D to manufacturing and application is gradually taking shape, centering on Gree Intelligent Equipment.
A high-end electronic information technology industrial chain that integrates hardware manufacture, network communications, software, and information technology also accounts for Xiangzhou's inclusion on the list, according to the official.
Xiangzhou was named one of China's Top 100 Districts in terms of comprehensive economic strength in October this year.
