Zhuhai chosen to host green building expo in 2018

After 13 years in Beijing, China's largest and most influential event in the green building industry will move to Zhuhai next spring bringing more than 3,000 participants and 300 exhibitors from home and abroad.

The announcement was made in Beijing at the recent kick-off meeting of the 14th International Conference on Green and Energy-Efficient Building & New Technologies and Products Expo (IGEBC). The event will be held April 2-3 at the Zhuhai International Convention & Exhibition Center.

IGEBC calls for advancing green buildings into a quality-oriented era. Zhuhai's positioning and development direction tally with the expo's concept, according to attendees. Officials of Zhuhai's Housing & Urban-Rural Planning & Construction and Convention & Expo bureaus were present to outline green and energy-efficient building progress, plus MICE industries. Zhuhai Convention & Exhibition Group, which will oversee the event, held extensive discussions with officials, experts, scholars, and organizations.

The primary purpose of IGEBC is to review the latest scientific and technological achievements, advanced ideas, trends, innovative materials, and successful cases. Discussions will involve more than 300 high-ranking officials, and renowned experts and specialists, according to the event website. They will revolve around technical standards, policies and measures, evaluation systems, detection, and identification of green and energy-efficient buildings.

The New Technologies and Products Expo to be held concurrently will display the latest domestic and international technological achievements and practical applications in energy-efficient and green buildings, greening design, intelligent buildings, and green building materials, sources say.

Hosted by the US-China Green Fund, Chinese Society for Urban Studies (CSUS), China Green Building Council of CSUS, and Eco-City Research Committee of CSUS, the high-ranking event enjoys a wide-reaching international reputation.
