Locally produced electric buses to serve Zhuhai public

The first batch of 100 electric buses developed by Sanzao-based ZTE Smart Auto Corp will come into service in Zhuhai next year, according to the company.

The vehicles were licensed on Dec 24 and will be handed over to Zhuhai Public Transportation Group Co Ltd next month.

Tailored for Zhuhai public transit, the 12-m vehicles are equipped with an intelligent driving assistance system, interconnected monitoring terminal, and intelligent Wi-Fi cloud platform. A 360-degree spherical imaging and intelligent anti-collision systems have also been installed for a safer and more comfortable experience.

Inside each bus is a low-entry footboard and wider passages, with light-weight design applied to the aluminum modular bus body.

Using top-class battery packs, the buses have a range of more than 300 km, and allow both quick charge and trickle charge even when fully loaded. They will significantly reduce operating costs, said a designer.

Since being established and registered in Jinwan District in July 2016, ZTE Smart Auto has seen a wider market for its electric buses, which have been publicized in cities like Shenzhen, Guangzhou, Changsha, Wuhan, and Haikou.
