Bridge to Hong Kong will be lighted for New Year

updated : 2017-12-29

Lights on the Tunnel & Island Project of the almost-completed Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macao Bridge will be switched on as fireworks burst overhead on New Year's Eve.

Debugging of the illumination system began on Dec 27. Lights on the wind cowl on Eastern Artificial Island and on the south-side entrance and exit of the sub-sea tunnel connecting to Western Artificial Island had already been tested.

The HZMB Tunnel & Island Project Management Office sped up the installation pace at the #1 construction site over ten-days prior to the testing.

Work continues on landscape lighting on a partition wall north of the translucent covering and enamel hanging board on its outside.

Western Artificial Island is in the final construction stage. Paving of more than 20,000 sq m of road surface has been completed, complemented by over 7,500 sq m of water-permeable bricks. Gravel-laying around the island is also ending, according to a project head.

Another island has seen lawn planting completed and the third-layer mezzanine in its main body half covered with anti-corrosive wood flooring.
