Five aquatic product projects valued at 2.5 billion yuan ($385 million) came under construction along with support infrastructure at Baijiao Modern Agricultural Demonstration Park in Doumen District on Dec 30.
Located in the Zhuhai National Agricultural Sci-Tech Park, the 56-hectare demonstration facility will engage in deep processing, packaging, wholesale, exhibition, trade, warehousing, and cold-chain logistics.
The park is poised to become a green agricultural product distribution center, key intelligent port, and logistics base serving the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area. It also is designed as an industrial new town integrating urbanization with industrial development.
Agreements were signed last June between the park and five leading enterprises, including Zhuhai Qiangjing Agriculture, Zhuhai Lvxing Cold Chain Logistics, and Comwell Group.

Costing 129 million yuan ($20 million), early-stage infrastructure includes a 466-m secondary main road, three feeders with a total length of 1.9 km, and telecommunication and oil supply facilities.
So far, the soil has been filled and ground leveled. Construction is expected to be completed by June 2019.
By then, 360,000 sq m of aquatic product deep-processing plants as well as low-temperature and ultra-low temperature cold-storage facilities capable of preserving nearly 100,000 tons of aquatic products will also be in place.
Once in operation, the five projects will yield annual output of 2.5 billion yuan ($385 million).
