By-Health quality, transparency earn mayor's award

Dietary supplement producer By-Health Co Ltd in Sanzao has become the city's first company in the food-and-drug industry to merit the Zhuhai Mayor Quality Award.

Carrying an allotment of 1 million yuan ($153,680), the presentation was made recently in the presence of government officials. The selection is conducted every two years and recognizes only one or two companies each time. Criteria includes the examination of documents and on-site inspection.

The award was founded in 2013 to encourage quality-oriented development. It is the city's highest recognition in terms of having enterprises set up and implement what is called the Performance Excellence Model.

According to Fu Xiaorong, director of By-Health's Quality Assurance Center, the basic threshold is to be in sound financial condition. For 2017, the company is estimated to yield turnover of 720 million yuan ($111 million) to 830 million yuan ($128 million), a 35 percent to 55 percent increase from the previous year.

Transparent workshop 

Meanwhile, By-Health insists on producing flawless products. The company has 200 detection items that it says are carried out with stricter-than-national standards to ensure high-quality products. These include proteins, vitamins, minerals, natural extracts, and other supplements. By-Health procures raw ingredients across the world to ensure the highest quality and safety. It is listed on the Shenzhen Stock Exchange.

The third-phase factory started in 2012 with total annual production capacity of 5 billion tablets, 3 billion soft capsules, 500 million hard capsules, 250 million bags, and 15 million cans of powder dietary supplements. 

Located in Sanzao Science & Technology Industrial Park of Jinwan District, the company's first-of-its-kind transparent factory has glass sheets encasing workshops on the third to fifth floors. So far, more than 260,000 consumers and stakeholders have taken a close look at various production processes, such as raw-material extraction.

The transparent factory earned the company extra points in the selection process.
