Zhuhai CPPCC reviewing progress, looking ahead

The 2nd Session of the 9th Zhuhai Municipal Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC) opened at the Zhuhai Grand Hall on Jan 15.

Ninth CPPCC Zhuhai Municipal Committee Chairman Chen Honghui delivered the work report of the Standing Committee. The report concluded the work of 2017 in terms of five aspects and outlined missions for 2018.

2nd Session of 9th Zhuhai Municipal Committee opens

During the three-day convention, CPPCC members of the municipal committee are deliberating the work report and proposal-related work.

Meanwhile, the members will also attend the 5th Session of the 9th Zhuhai Municipal People's Congress as non-voting delegates, reviewing the work reports of the Zhuhai Municipal People's Government, Standing Committee of the Zhuhai Municipal People's Congress, Zhuhai Intermediate People's Court, and Zhuhai People's Procuratorate.

Both outstanding proposals and advanced units in charge of them in 2017 were awarded on the opening day. The report on the examination of the proposals during the 2nd Session of the 9th Zhuhai Municipal Committee of the CPPCC will be reviewed, and resolutions passed on the following days.

A total of 281 members from 31 circles are to take part in the 2nd Session in seven groups. As of the check-in for the session on Jan 14, more than 300 pre-proposals had been submitted.

City Party Chief Guo Yuanqiang, Mayor Yao Yisheng and other senior city officials were seated on the central rostrum. Meanwhile, CPPCC Guangdong Provincial Committee members in Zhuhai, society leader representatives of Hong Kong, Macao and Zhuhai, and overseas Chinese and youth representatives were present as non-voting delegates.
