The Cultural Center in the core area of Aviation New Town was topped on Jan 4 and will be completed by the end of this year -- the most-rapidly developing project in the "Six Centers" system of Jinwan District.
Encompassing Archives and Library, the center is sure to strengthen and enrich Jinwan's cultural life, according to a district government official. It covers 36,000 sq m with floorage of 58,000 sq m.
At a cost of 650 million yuan ($101 million) out of total investment of 8.2 billion yuan ($1.3 billion), the project is the first of six key public service facilities for Aviation New Town. The others are for industrial services, civic art displays, and international business centers.
The Urban Operation Sector of Huafa Group is overseeing the development.
The 3.8-sq km Aviation New Town is part of Zhuhai Aviation Industrial Park, which has operated since 2008. A modernized Aviation New Town urban area was announced in 2016 to feature an aviation-based economy, social functions, and habitation layout with a certain amount of population working in the flight industry.
