Xiangzhou and Jinwan continue robust GDP growth

The market value of goods and services produced in Xiangzhou District during 2017 reached 119 billion yuan ($18.6 billion), district mayor Liu Qiying reported at the 3rd Session of the 9th Xiangzhou District People's Congress that opened on Jan 24.

In addition to the year-on-year GDP growth of 7.5 percent, gross financial revenue increased by 30 percent to 9.38 billion yuan ($1.47 billion).

Furthermore, Liu stated in a work report:

The public budget rose by 1.2 percent to 3.68 billion yuan ($576 million). Gross value-added amount of industrial enterprises above designated size was 42.4 billion yuan ($6.64 billion), up 10.8 percent. Investment in fixed assets reached 42.96 billion yuan ($6.72 billion), up 21.2 percent. And, total retail sales of consumer goods increased by 11 percent to 83.15 billion yuan ($83.15 billion).

Additionally, Jinwan attracted $700 million of paid-in foreign capital and 84 experts of the Thousand Talents Plan and high-caliber personnel in various spheres last year.

Jinwan targets 9% GDP growth

In 2018, GDP is to grow by around 9 percent in Jinwan District with the establishment of the 1-million-yuan ($157,000) Jinwan Mayor Quality Award, it was announced at the 4th Session of the 4th Jinwan District People’s Congress that opened on Jan 24.

The Jinwan Mayor Quality Award is meant to improve corporate management levels and independent innovation.

Jinwan GDP increased by 10.3 percent year-on-year to 26.96 billion yuan ($4.22 billion) last year; and the gross value-added amount of industrial enterprises above designated size rose by 13.3 percent to 67.56 billion yuan ($10.57 billion), according to the work report delivered by district mayor Zhao Weiyuan.

The real economy contributed 95.5 percent to the district's economic growth, a year-on-year increase of 26.8 percentage points. Industrial enterprises above designated size in the biomedicine industry yielded gross industrial output value of 16.98 billion yuan ($2.66 billion), accounting for nearly 80 percent of the city's total.
