Hundreds of recharging units coming for city buses

updated : 2018-03-26

Twenty-eight new charging piles for new-energy buses will undergo debugging this month and another 268 are to be added in late April, Zhuhai Public Transport Group announced on March 22.

By then, 296 charging piles will be in place at 21 bus parking lots, terminals, and hub stations to serve 420 new-energy vehicles. This marks a significant milestone in the city's 2017 new-energy bus plan after only six months.

In recent years, residents have called for cleaner urban public transportation. In response, the city has listed it among the top 10 livelihood improvement projects on the work agenda for two consecutive years, according to Tian Songbai, director of the Parking Lot Department.

One goal this year is to phase out 753 traditional buses and replace them with 400 pure-electric vehicles. Land is being sought for 637 new charging piles to service 1,153 new-energy vehicles at the same time.
