Dong'ao-Hengqin ferry is running again this week

High-speed passenger service will resume at 10:30 am daily beginning Wednesday, March 28 from Hengqin Ferry Terminal taking 35 minutes to Dong'ao Island and returning at 4 pm.

The 120-seat liner between two of Zhuhai's major tourist attractions is operated by Guangdong Jianghua Shipping. As the company prepares for the peak tourist season, it is supported by the Zhuhai Culture, Sports & Tourism and Transportation bureaus.

Sometimes referred to as the City of a Hundred Islands, Zhuhai has seen an ever-increasing demand for island travel in recent years, especially during summer as tourists flock in for the comfortable sea breezes.

Hengqin New Area stands out from among many Zhuhai tourist spots due to the renowned Chimelong International Ocean Tourist Resort and Sumlodol Hengqin Camping Park. On the other end of the ferry route, Nansha Bay, also known as "Diamond Beach," has drawn millions of tourists annually to Dong'ao in the center of the Wanshan Archipelago. Gree Dong'ao Hotel, which has redefined high-end island accommodation services, adds to the luxury of the island.

Dong'ao's major tourism resources have been synchronized to shipping routes, according to a bureau official. The approach amplifies the benefits of the "transportation + tourism" mode while exemplifying a comprehensive development of all-for-one tourism, he added.

Travel agencies and tourism companies have begun to take advantage of this additional transportation service by advertising discounted ticket prices and admission fees.
