Guardian of intellectual property opens in Hengqin

Hengqin New Area celebrated World Intellectual Property Day on April 26 by opening the Zhuhai Intellectual Property Public Service Center. This will further strengthen Zhuhai's reputation for IP protection while also servicing the Greater Bay Area.

The Hengqin International Intellectual Property Exchange (HIPEX) National Platform Agency will operate the center and supply resources and management expertise. Also known as the Seven-Stringed Lute National Platform, HIPEX is a pioneer in integrating the online trading and operation of IP with financial innovation. It is controlled by Huafa Group, a local State-owned giant.

The center will consult on the latest IP policies and provide relevant information on various businesses. It will coordinate with the Zhuhai Intellectual Property Office on IP protection, management, and trade while supporting national standards for Enterprise Intellectual Property Management. The center will help those applying for IP rights, organize training sessions for potential talents, and provide IP analysis and evaluation for major economic events, according to Ji Jie, general manager of HIPEX.

The HIPEX agency has gained nearly 200,000 registered members since it was established last June. It handles tens of thousands of various IP assets, according to Ji.

The center, he said, will spare no effort in providing professional, all-inclusive, high-quality, and highly efficient public services for innovators. Its importance in strengthening Zhuhai's IP competence and making it a prominent player within the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area cannot be overstated, added a government official.
