Beachside bookstore is said to blend in beautifully

Time House Bookstore in the newly opened Sea & Sky Rest Station Park in New Xiangzhou has a character all its own; panorama seascapes are viewed from converted shipping containers on a tropical beach.

The rest station park is located where East Meihua Road meets North Lovers Avenue in Bayview Villa (Meiliwan) residential area section of Fenghuang (Phoenix) Bay. It opened May 1.

So, the bookstore is in a park, on a beach with boardwalks, along a greenery bike path, but within Zhuhai's urban area. More than that, it is made from stacked shipping containers and offers a breathtaking view of the sea, scallop-shaped Zhuhai Opera House and Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macao Bridge. Nonetheless, it blends in nicely.

The facility is charming and elegant, says a Zhuhai Daily reporter who recently visited. It has a distinct local flavor and is designed to appeal to booklovers. Lamps in the form of drift bottles and mooring ropes separating spaces add an exotic marine feel, he says. One can also enjoy the sea breeze on a small balcony outside.

The journalist interviewed a young couple on the balcony. They reportedly told him: "The scenery here is so beautiful. It is simply a shrine, a holy place. Zhuhai has made the invincible seascape a public product for the enjoyment of the public. This urban management concept is fantastic."

The bookstore is open from 1 to 9 pm, Monday through Friday, with weekend hours of 9 am to 9 pm.

Simple but comfortable
