Green pasture beckons at north end of Yingbin Road

A 35,000-sq-m (8.6-acre) luscious grass field dotted with colorful blossoms has opened on the west side of Xiangshan Greenway Station in Xiangzhou District. It provides a restful spot for those looking for some peace and quiet.

The area, which is four times the size of a standard football (soccer) field, opens up much of the 372,000-sq-m (92-acre) Greenway Station. It is situated in New Xiangzhou where North Yingbin Road separates Meihua Road into east and west sections.

Footpath traverses field

Quality grass used on golf courses is soft and resilient to trampling from sneakers, sandals, or flat-heeled shoes, according to a staff member.

The lush patch of greenery is interspersed with the flowers: Cosmos sulphureus, Calendula officinalis, Zinnia elegans (youth-and-age), and Catharanthus roseus, which replace cosmos blossoms of Spring Festival.

Upgrades are under way to add even more beauty to the field.
