The community section of Tianmu River Park in Hengqin New Area has opened to the public a year ahead of rest of the facility. Comprising one-fifth of the park's designated zones, the grounds span 700 m (766 yards) east-to-west between the Liuliu and Qiqi bridges.
The area is overlaid with a jogging path along which are sports fields and 217,000 sq m (54 acres) of trees, flowers, and lawns. Decorative items include statues and carvings.
Tianmu Park is designed for landscaping and flood prevention. Situated between Second Qinyue Road and Roundabout West Embankment Water Gate, it faces wetlands in the west and Hengqin Checkpoint to the east. The entire park stretches 7 km (4 miles) and covers a green area of 492,691 sq m (122 acres). Development by Zhuhai Da Heng Qin commenced last December.
