Zhuhai Chimelong International Ocean Resort was the 11th most-visited theme park in the world last year, according to the Themed Entertainment Association's (TEA) latest survey of global theme parks.
The 2017 AECOM and TEA Theme & Museum Index Report states that the 9.7 million visitors at Chimelong were 15 percent higher in number than 8.5 million previous year. This is credited to new innovative immersive entertainment, heavy advertising, and ongoing expansion.
First on the list is Magic Kingdom at Walt Disney World in Florida at nearly 20.5 million. In China, Shanghai Disneyland, which opened in June 2016, ranked eighth, attracting 11 million tourists in 2017. Hong Kong Disneyland, meanwhile, placed 18th with a gate of 6.2 million and Hong Kong Ocean Park was 20th at 5.8 million.

TEA is the most prestigious evaluation organization in the themed entertainment industry. The annual study of most-visited theme or water parks and museums is conducted in conjunction with AECOM, an American provider of technical-professional and management-support services.
Chimelong Ocean Resort, situated in the State-level new area of Hengqin, is a world-class tourism attraction. Its Hero Island is the first tourist site of its kind in the domestic industry that has integrated with Chimelong's original five-dimensional cartoon movie.
Moreover, Chimelong was the only Chinese recipient of the Award for Outstanding Achievement given by TEA in April for the pioneering Journey of Lights parade show.
