Typhoons Barijat and Mangkhut are targeting Zhuhai within the next five days, with the latter expected to be even more severe than last year's devastating Typhoon Hato. Hato caused serious damage, with traffic disruptions, large-scale power cuts, water supply interruption, and loss of network coverage in some areas.
Barijat, the 23rd typhoon of the year, landed at the coast of Zhanjiang in the western Guangdong at around 8:30 am today, barely bringing any rain to Zhuhai.
Despite this, Xiangzhou Port Passenger Transport Co announced that, apart from the ferries from Xiangzhou Port to Wailingding Island at 12 am and the return trip on 1:20 pm, all other liners to and from the islands are suspended or pending.

Meanwhile, super typhoon Mangkhut may make landfall in the central coastal area of Guangdong on Sept 16. It will strongly impact Zhuhai on Sept 16 and 17.
The Zhuhai Meteorological Bureau issued a blue alert on Sept 12, warning local ports and wharfs to transfer personnel and prepare for the gale, landfall, and flooding.
