Hengqin Science City is going global in second phase

The second phase of Hengqin Science City has been charted while construction of the first phase is proceeding to make an innovative live-work-recreate community of city-industry integration.

The second phase is situated north of West Ring Road and south of Shengzhou Second Road in Hengqin New Area. It covers 398,480 sq m (.2 sq mile), and will bring the total coverage of the two-phase project to 720,414 sq m (.3 sq mile).

The site will be dedicated to realizing the industrial ecology of GBIS, according to the Administrative Committee of the Hengqin New Area. G represents the complex's Going Global ambition with a firm foothold in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area; B stands for a Bio-Medical Valley; I is an Intelligence Ecology Valley, while S denotes Science Innovation Valley.

Residences and commercial facilities are included in the first phase. There will be 12 houses with ownership rights shared by the government and private buyers, 16 apartment buildings, star hotels, shopping malls, commercial streets, public service facilities, and kindergartens.

Hengqin Science City Phase I is located west of West Ring Road and south of North Qinhai Road. It is invested by Zhuhai Da Heng Qin Property. Construction commenced in January and is expected to be completed in 2021.

The key project revolves around the development of emerging industries such as artificial intelligence, cloud computing, and big data.
