Guilin holds osmanthus festival

This year's China-ASEAN Expo Tourism Exhibition – Guilin (Lingui) Osmanthus Culture Tourism Season opened on Oct 13 at the Guilin International Convention and Exhibition Center.

The opening ceremony was divided into four chapters, showcasing the rich historical and cultural heritage of Guilin Lingui through spectacular performances. In addition, 30 performers dressed up as "Osmanthus Fairies" to promote public welfare services, spreading positive energy. 

Olympic gold medalists and world champions such as Tang Lingsheng, Xiao Jiangang, Li Rao, and Li Hengmin shared their stories at the event. Chinese weightlifting champion Shi Zhiyong sent well wishes to his hometown through a video message.

The grand finale of the opening ceremony consisted of a stunning fireworks show, marking the successful opening of the 2023 China-ASEAN Expo Tourism Exhibition – Guilin (Lingui) Osmanthus Culture Tourism Season.

Over the next five days, various events will be held, including the "Drive through China" 2023 Driving Tourism and RV Camping Development Conference, the National "Good Stuff" Reserve Box Market Event, the Guilin Lingui "Osmanthus Fairies" Finals, the Osmanthus Cup Sitan Village Marathon, the 175 Basketball League National Finals, and an intangible cultural heritage folk show.

In recent years, Lingui has been focusing on building itself into a world-class tourism hub. The Osmanthus Culture Tourism Season is an important initiative to promote tourism in Lingui, aiming to establish it as an internationally renowned tourist destination and boost the local economy.
