Explore Guilin's towns named after dragon

Guilin city is home to numerous towns and townships named after the dragon, known as "long" in Chinese, making them well worth exploring.

Longhu town, located in the northeastern part of the Gongcheng Yao autonomous county in Guilin, is below the historic Longhu Gate at the southern foothills of the Wuling mountain.

Longhuai town in Lipu city, Guilin, formerly known as Sanhe town, was renamed in 2004 after the permanent site of the World Chinese Entrepreneurs Convention established in the Longhuai scenic area.

Longji town, located in the Longsheng Various Nationalities autonomous county in Guilin, is the site of the famous Longji Rice Terraces. The town's terrain runs in a northeast-southwest direction, characterized by steep slopes and continuous mountain ranges.

Longsheng town serves as the political, economic, and cultural center of the Longsheng Various Nationalities autonomous county and is the location of the county seat.

Qinglong town, under the jurisdiction of Pingle county in Guilin, is renowned for its Qinglong and Yanyue mountains, with the latter resembling a stone arch bridge spanning the township's pastoral landscape.

Longshui town, Quanzhou county in Guilin, is in the river valley below the Yuecheng Ridge. The Hehua fish produced here was once a tribute to the imperial court during the Qianlong period and has been honored with the title of a famous product of Guangxi.

Longjiang town in Yongfu county, Guilin, is named after the Longjiang River and is known as the "Hometown of Chinese Monk Fruit." In 2023, the township's planting area of monk fruit reached over 40,200 mu (2,680 hectares), with a yield of nearly 400 million.
